It’s nice to have no rushed the process of furnishing our first home. As much as I would have loved to kit out our apartment entirely within the first month of living there, it wasn’t possible financially. That and it would have ruined the enjoyment of settling into our home. As someone who is Pinterest-obsessed and endlessly browsing on home interior websites, I thought I’d talk about five interior trends that I want in my home. Like right now…

Floral Fabrics
I’m loving all of the floral interior furnishings at the moment. I think it adds a touch of femininity to the room and softens everything that it covers. So whether it’s the duvet cover or sofa cushions, I would love to bring in some more floral pieces for the autumn. However, I’m definitely more of a winter flower, like a burgundy rather than a baby pink.
Patterned Backsplashes
You know she’s turned into a full-grown OAP when she starts talking about backsplashes. Yes, I’m actually referring to tiles or glass that go behind a tap to prevent splashing water and other stuff onto the wall. It’s riveting stuff being in your mid-twenties I tell ya.
We don’t yet have a backsplash on the wall behind the kitchen sink and patterned backsplashes are all the range at the moment. However, I’m actually thinking at some point, to get the whole kitchen area tiled because I think it needs a bit of variation in colour that can cut through the off-cream colour of our kitchen cabinets.
Unique, Handmade Furniture
For the month of September, I’ll be working hard on the launch of my second blog website, Tilly & Rouge. Although UpYourVlog will always be my baby (and main money maker), I wanted a second site to focus my personal life and attention on. I want to talk more about home interiors and to actually write some lengthy content that people will really enjoy reading. Unique and handmade furniture is my joy and the last big purchase we made was from Konk Furniture. They do gorgeous, custom-made pieces and I requested a beautiful wooden table for our dining area. Since we purchased that, I’ve been itching to get more hand-made pieces because let’s be honest, they’re utterly unique and in some cases like my dining table, the only version!
Four-Poster Beds
I don’t think this is actually going to happen in our current flat but I am lusting over four-poster beds at the moment. It’s strange how history repeats itself, whether it’s through fashion or revamping art decor. There’s something so regal about these type of beds and I think once we’ve moved properties to somewhere bigger, the bed we currently have can be a guest bed. And then we can upgrade to a four-poster one and live out our best boujee lives.
Black Marble Bathrooms
Fortunately, our property has had the complete works of a new bathroom and so we don’t really need to worry about changing anything. However, I love the black marble that’s currently featuring in a lot of glossy home interior magazines and websites at the moment. There’s something very luxurious about it and I think it would be a material that goes so well in a wet room. Fifty shades of grey is so last year…
