The sun is out permanently now – here’s hoping – and I LOVE IT. Summer is my time of year because it makes me happy and it makes everyone else happier. I genuinely feel us Brits don’t get enough sunshine and that’s why we’re moody all the time. Anyway, I got some lovely treats from FemmeLuxe recently, you can check out my last haul here. I thought I’d try out the new lighting I brought myself which will hopefully be used when I restart my YouTube channel. So here goes nothing, here are three looks for the summer.
First up is this Black Chain Print Belted Satin Shirt Dress which had a retail price of £18.99. I’m surprised actually that all of these outfits are no longer on their website which leads me to believe that they are one for fast fashion. I’m not about this but I’ll make sure the garments I’ve been sent are used as much as possible. The quality of this material isn’t great and it’s very thin. However, because of the colour, it doesn’t show off any knicker lines thankfully. I also want to thank past Natalie for tanning before this photoshoot because I don’t think I’ve ever seen my legs so well defined and GLOWING. I do think this a great dress for a night out in a warmer climate where there’s no wind because damn it’s short. I think that’s the issue with tall people and generic sizes – I’ll need to get myself some booty shorts.
I think on reflection of the past couple of hauls I’ve had with Femme Luxe, it’s a bit like Pretty Little Thing or In The Style. The quality is there on some items but then completely misses the mark on others. Thankfully the buttons around my chest held together but again, I think I’m going to have to wear some sort of vest top to help stop any lace from my bra, showing
I love lighter materials when it comes to summer but I’m still all for longer sleeved numbers so long as it’s breathable. This Stone Rolled Sleeves Shirt Dress for £18.99 is the same sort of style as the one above and I actually love the colour of this. It’s a perfect shade for when I’m tanned – though it probably won’t look so nice when I’m not – and I like that it’s a bit loose. I think I might replace the fabric belt with another belt of my own but pair this with some cowboy boots and I think I’m onto a winner. Now I just need to get the boots and the belt…
It makes editing these photos a lot easier but I’m still trying to find a style that works when it comes to editing them. Like as an example below, the first one with me laughing out of awkwardness as I didn’t know how to pose, is in a warm glow and the other is colder in comparison. I actually like the warmer one so I’m noting this mentally in my brain. What do you think?
And finally, is the Light Wash Pop Button Denim Skirt priced at £17.99. I don’t why but this denim skirt smelled a bit funky before I washed it. Not a bad smell as such but a smell none the less. This is probably my favourite out of the three because it has a paper bag waist and the pop buttons are a lazy dresser’s dream. I am that lazy dresser. I got the red flared top from Misguided ageeees ago and I think it works really well as an ensemble. Denim is the material that I can never stop wearing and seeing as I can really wear jeans this season, I’ll opt for denim skirts and shorts instead.
Overall, I have to say that I’m not bowled over by the quality but I’m here for the styles. I just hope that Femme Luxe can create better quality in some of their attire and to not forget about making sure sizes reflect a typical body size. I ordered some trousers to go with what I got but they just didn’t fit properly around the ankles.
There’s always room for improvement and in the world of fashion, it’s competitive, especially now that everyone with access to a computer can create an online business.
