My Favourite Hair Looks For Date Night

Date night. It’s something me and Sam do every so often because we end up getting so busy in our work lives that we sometimes forget to spend time with one another. Our work ethic is what we both love about each other and I get so much satisfaction from having a partner who works hard and is driven to succeed and isn’t merely complacent. That’s because I’m the same in that sense and so we naturally encourage one another. However, date night is a chance for us to spend some time over dinner and a few glasses of red wine normally, and to catch up. Obviously we talk at home but we don’t always spend every evening on the sofa for hours on end. Getting ready for date night is something I love doing because I want to look good not just for myself primarily but for my partner too. We both have to make an effort for each other when it comes to dressing up because becoming complacent is easy to do. That’s why I thought I’d share with you some of my favourite hair looks for date night.

Teased Curls

I love curling my hair and sometimes, I feel as though I’d get a perm just to see what it would be like to have curly hair all of the time. My mum had a perm back when it was at it’s peak of popularity and I feel like I could rock it. When it comes to curling, I’ll usually take a barrel wand and start from the back and working my way to the front of my head. With the sections at the back, I’d take bigger chunks of hair and then get more sparing as I’m approaching the front. I find that what this does is creates more volume and shape at the back, rather than it being the same curl effect all the way round. I’ll then usually tease the curls with my fingers until they have a floaty effect, rather than it being frizzy and that’s something I don’t want. Hairspray normally does the trick if I have to battle against strong winds but usually my hair will tend to hold curls for a while, so I usually just opt out of using any hair products afterwards.

 Half-Up, Half-Down

What my hair lacks is volume. That’s probably why I love curling it so much because that adds volume to my hair. Unfortunately, my hair is in fact, not perfect. I’m looking at getting a Balayage hair colour for my wedding and doing the half-up, half-down style because I feel it adds just that extra amount of volume that I don’t get when I just leave my hair as it is. I like to pull the hair out slightly from hair tie at the front so that it adds a bit more volume where I can get it. I know though when I’ve pulled too much out because I’ve created a mohawk affect. Definitely what I want for date night…

Straightened

Straightening your hair if you don’t do it very often always makes me go ‘Oh I should straighten it more’ and then I never do. I think it’s because my hair is naturally quite straight and so the less heat I apply to it, the better. However, when I’m going out and I want to take out any kinks in my hair, straightening is something I’ll do. I’ll also do it when I don’t have the time to do curling or I’m just not bothered to do anything with it at all.
