The Knee-High Brown Boots You Need This Autumn

My mum has always been a big fan of wearing brown and that’s a colour that has garnered the same interest for me. I feel like brown is just like wearing black – it goes with everything. From brown trench coats to tops and trousers, I embrace this colour, particularly during the autumn and winter months. As a recent collab with Very that you may have seen last month, I mentioned that I got some brown knee-high boots as part of the haul I received. I already own a pair of black knee-high boots which I’m obsessed with. I think they’re an effortlessly classy style of boot that everyone should own.

It was lovely to get back outside, taking photos on my camera. Well, I say I but it’s Sam who actually took these photos and I’m forever indebted to him for his patience with me, especially as he’s not got the experience of working as a photographer where the model is so demanding. Of course, my little fur baby Ronnie was part of the photoshoot. Only because if he wasn’t he wouldn’t stop barking his little head off.

Therefore, it made sense to me, to find a similar style pair in my favourite go-to colour. These ones are the V by Very Block Heel Over The Knee Boot in Chocolate. It’s a gorgeous shoe that I can tell is going to provide me with a good few years before there are even any signs of wear and tear. The slightly raised heel is wide so I don’t think I’m going to have much problem when it comes to walking in them for hours at a time.

At £45, they are a fraction of the price that I spent on the black knee-high boots. Those I bought from Aldo which I think were around the £100-£110 mark. Again, I’m a big believer in quality but also getting a bargain, so these £45 boots are a good in-between price point.

The boots themselves are made out of soft textile, so like my other black boots, they may not hold up in a downpour of typical British weather. However, they will be good on those days when we’re out for walks and it’s dry but cold. Slightly different to my Aldo boots, they have a full zip going up from the top of the boot to the bottom. As such, they’re a lot easier to slip on and off without much hassle.

As they say on the tin, they go up past the knee ever so slightly. I’m obviously quite tall at 5ft 8 and a half, so it just tips over the knees for me. I think someone more petite would find they have a bit more material to work with.

They’re super comfortable to put on and they feel like they’re well put together. They can be styled with an assortment of outfits and I’ve chosen a few for inspiration at the bottom of this style blog.

With knee-high boots, they certainly have their benefits and I thought I’d give you a few influential reasons why you should purchase a pair for yourself this month.

They’ll keep your feet warm

As far as good footwear goes, these boots provide all the quality and durability that you’d require for defence against British weather. Keeping your feet warm is important because it’s one of your extremities. That means you will definitely feel the cold more if you’ve got wet shoes and soggy feet. As long as it’s dry, these boots for me will definitely keep my feet warm and toasty.

With these boots that I have, they don’t seem to have too much insulation that my feet will sweat but enough that it’ll keep them warm.

Great for avoiding mud and dirty water on clothes

Whilst these boots in particular may not be the best for wet weather, some boots with this style, can do. When they’re made out of leather or they’re made out of PVC, you’re going to notice that they have the benefit of being waterproof. There’s nothing better than getting caught out in the rain and coming home with your feet nice and dry. It also makes it easier to wipe your boots down when it’s a type of surface that will just wipe away the dirt with ease.

For these boots, I’m probably going to spray them down with a fabric spray that essentially makes them less prone to retaining moisture.

A stylish alternative to ankle boots

Knee-high boots aren’t as popular typically as ankle boots are. I think ankle boots can definitely provide the more casual style that most people are after when it comes to everyday clothing. These knee-highs though are a great option to have when you’re bored with the knee-high boots and fancy something a little different. They’ve got that added flair and if you’ve got some slightly questionable socks on, then there’s no way they’re going to be seen with knee-high boots. I hate it when I’m wearing ankle boots with jeans and my socks pock through the gap. Can anyone relate?

Can be easily dressed up and dressed down

With knee-high boots, they can easily be dressed up for a night out on the town and just as easily dressed down. Being dressed down, you can wear them to work or to see friends for a lunch. They’re so versatile, you just need to think a little more about how you dress them. Knee-high boots tend to go very well with skirts and dresses. Whilst this might not be the warmest attire for autumn and winter, you can layer up to add that warmth.

I’m looking to pair my knee-high boots will a flowing dress for dinner dates and then perhaps a cream cable-knit jumper and skinny jean combo. There’s so much you can do with these boots and I’m just in love with how pretty they look.

With autumn well and truly here, these boots will keep your feet toasty during these cooler months when you’re out and about. Let me know what you think of these boots in the comments below.
