You know when you make those purchases and you just think – good job girl. That’s exactly how I felt when I got this oversized statement black jacket from Bershka. Well, actually, to begin with, I ordered a medium, thinking it would be a good option for my size. However, they really meant oversized in a way that I was drowning in the fabric when I tried it on. So, for the first time in my life, I opted for a SMALL. A SMALL! I squeeze my body (comfortably now) in a Size 12, so to be considered small in a piece of clothing is cray-cray.

Anyway, when I’m shopping nowadays, mostly online because that’s just the way shopping is nowadays, I often try to find clothing that I know is going to last me. Before this jacket, I had a trust jacket from New Look which no joke, I think I had either during university or just after university. That leather jacket was definitely more than five years old – perhaps ten! It had a good innings, that’s for sure.
This loyal leather jacket, unbeknownst to me had started to lose its (faux) leather around parts of the coat, which included the collar and cuffs of the sleeves. So, it was with a heavy heart that I popped it in the bin. The search for my new leather jacket began and I knew I wanted it to be oversized to an extent. I think it’s a known tip that with any overcoat, you want it to be a little bigger than your actual size. That way, you can still wear layers underneath it to keep yourself warm.
Bershka is a brand I’ve really fallen in love with recently. That and Stradivarius. If you’ve not browsed either site before, I highly recommend you check them out. They’re also readily available on ASOS. As a brand, I knew nothing about them until I found them on ASOS. I believe I own a few pieces from their range because it’s such good quality. Some of their clothing almost looks like it could be vintage, even though it’s not. The designers’ attention to detail is suited to my style and I’m having to lock away my credit card to avoid spending heavily over the next couple of months.
A few favourites to add to my wishlist is this Faux leather trench coat. I love how 90s it is. This Short sleeve midi dress with floral print is very pretty too. It’s very Zara in the way it’s formatted online. Whilst that would normally put me off – seriously don’t get me started with Zara – it works with Bershka. It also gives you handy ways to style the outfits on the page, as well as 360-degree views of the pieces. It’s very modern and above its competitors when it comes to user experience.
This Bershka Oversized Faux Leather Biker Jacket in black has become an absolute new favourite for me during both the summer evenings and now as we head into the cooler months. I just think a leather jacket, especially a biker-style jacket is just the epitome of effortless style. It feels luxurious despite its relatively affordable price tag. It’s also surprisingly warm for its material and the inner lining is an obviously great quality because it will keep me warm on those late evenings, autumnal evenings.
I just love how it drapes over my body in the right way and that there are minor hardware details to the coat that don’t make it too busy. There were some jackets that I would come across and there were just too many zips and buttons that were useful other than for detailing. The belts on some were also something I would have found annoying, so I was looking for one that didn’t have a belt.
I’ve already had so many compliments on this jacket and I just know I’m going to enjoy wearing the shit out of it with my wool beanies and thick scarves. At £45.99, we’ve taken a step up when it comes to Mrs Budget Conscious but it’s an investment into a jacket that not only looks good but it’s great quality too. Not only that but it makes me feel uber confident and sexy – and that’s priceless.
Styling the jacket is easy and whilst you’ll see this paired with some brown knee-high boots (these were for a separate piece of content), I think it goes well. Any pop of colour to put underneath the jacket is going to break up any block colour of black that you might like to pair up with the jacket. Of course, black leggings, skinny jeans and if you wanted to do a Ross from Friends – leather pants. It all works with the jacket.

Going into my late 20s – who am I kidding, I’m turning 30 in less than two months – I want to establish a new style for myself. I’m now heading into a new chapter of my life, not just as a married woman but also as someone who finally feels like an adult.
I want to be a cool adult, I’ve never been partial to growing up but hey, we all have to. If you’ve not shopped with Bershka before, then I highly recommend you check them out. They just have some beautiful pieces that are adaptable to pretty much anything that you own in your wardrobe. They also have a lot of colour options that can help you expand your palette when it comes to your wardrobe. I found growing up that I had some many boring neutrals that it felt good to inject some colour into it after so long.
What do you think of this oversized jacket? Would you wear it? Let me know in the comments below! I’m always after so inspo, so if you can recommend anything to me for fashion this autumn/winter, then let me know.
