The Makeup I’m Wearing On Christmas Day

Christmas is fast approaching and like every year for the past two or three, I’ve created a Christmas makeup look that I wear on the day. I mean I say it’s different but it’s pretty much exactly the same. However,  I thought I’d show you what I planned on using this Christmas to create the below look.

My range of beauty products that I use has very much exploding over the last year or so. I’ve become quite interested in makeup and trialing out different looks, rather than wearing a smokey brown eye everyday. This year’s festive look is very much a nod to the holidays of glittering golds and a bright glittery lip. I usually go for matte reds at Christmas but this year, I wanted my pout to sparkle.

We have makeup from Anastasia Beverley Hills, MAC, Charlotte Tilbury and Hourglass. This is probably more of a luxury makeup look, rather than one done on a budget but hey, who doesn’t love a bit of luxury over the festive holidays?!

The Base

I’ve realised that I really need to stock up on some foundations and some concealer for the new year because I am officially running out. I picked out the Bare Minerals Bare Pro Performance Wear Liquid Foundation (£31.00). I honestly forgot how good this was and I’m going to go and re-purchase this in the new year. For primers, there’s the Topshop Longwear Illuminating Primer (£14.00) that I got gifted a little while ago and I have to say that this might be one of my favourites when it comes to primers. Primers are great to help keep the makeup in place and to provide a blank canvas for your skin. This one has a pearl illuminating that actually stands out even with foundation on top. I used this alongside my foundation to act as a concealer and to help brighten my under eyes.

The Eyes

My eyeshadow palette obsession is quickly growing and next year I want to spend some time on my vanity table, getting it organised and making it more usable. So hopefully, in January, I will treat myself to a new mirror. ABH, or otherwise known as Anastasia Beverely Hills is a brand that I really love. I have two of their palettes, the Soft Glam was my first one and the Norvina one I bought over in New York last year. The soft glam palette is a rich array of glamourous colours and the pressed glitters are to die for. I started off with Tempura which is a barely there nude shade. I put a wash of the shade Burnt Orange over the whole of the lid and then went in with Rustic on the creases. The glitters are superb on this palette, I used glistening over the top and fairy in the corner of my eyes.

Eyelash extensions are becoming increasingly popular for people who want longer, fuller eyelashes. While eyelash extensions come in a variety of styles and looks, eyelash extensions aftercare is surprisingly simple. A few basic steps ensure your eyelashes remain clean and your eyelash extensions last as long as possible. There are a number of tips on how to clean your extensions, how to wash them, and how to remove the glue. You just need to make sure you follow these instructions and the perfect look will be guaranteed.

The Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes (£23.00) was last year’s mascara and I’m coming to the end of it’s shelf life but it’s still applying really well and hasn’t dried up yet, so I’ll continue using it for a few more months. And another feature from ABH, is their Dip Brow Pomade (£19.00), which I just LOVE. It applies either dry or add a little setting spray for an easier and more intense application. I have the shade Granite, which is the darkest shade you can get. It lasts forever and I’ve had mine for a while now.

The Details

It’s all about contouring, blush and highlighter and to think I only did blush for such a long time is WILD. The two palettes I use for this part of the process is the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze And Glow (£49.00). Now the bronzer aspect of this palette is perfect, it’s the right shade and tone for adding a bit of depth to my skin and to highlight the lack of cheekbones. However, the lighter just doesn’t perform that well at all. It’s very subtle and I do like a more blinding highlighter.

So with that being said, I do then swap over with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette (£75.00). It’s a pricey palette but Hourglass is definitely more of a luxurious brand. However, there’s six pans in total. One highligher, two shades of blush, one bronzer and two setting shades. The highlighter and blushes in these are gorgeous and the highlighter applies beautifully without any setting spray needed.

The Lips

The liquid lipstick that I chose for this festive red lip is an example of how sometimes makeup brands can either hit the nail on the head, or they can be way off mark. My first experience of using Ciate was through these liquid lipsticks and I have to say, I was so impressed. The pigment is intense ands then the gliter lip that appears when you bring your lips together is a treat everytime.

However, I recently tried Ciate’s Liquid Eyeliner Pen and compared to my usual Soap & Glory Liquid Eyeliner Pen (£6.50), it just doesn’t compare. This Ciate London Glitter Flip Lipstick (£17.00) in the shade Hollywood is the perfect red for this year.
