For 2024, I’m on a mission to finish the furnishing of our apartment. For the last year, we’ve enjoyed adding to our home here and there, rather than rushing it, And although Sam would say it doesn’t need anything else – it does. So in order for my home to look good, I thought I’d talk you through what I plan to purchase over the next twelve months.
When it comes to picking out furniture, quite a few of my items now have come from independant and less commercial companies that are catering for those who want something a bit different and less generic. Abakus Direct is one of those sites where I find myself loving a lot of what’s on offer, so I’m using them as inspiration for this post.
A Vanity Mirror
The vanity table has definitely been a work-in-progress project but I’m still not there yet. The reason why is because I’m missing two vital elements, organized storage holder to go in my drawers and a mirror. You know, so I can see myself while applying my makeup. Therefore I’ve forced myself to apply makeup on the floor in front of a mirror that I now no longer want in our home. There have been a few ideas flying back and forth in my brain but I think I’d like a huge arched one attached to the wall and that starts from the top of my vanity table and upwards towards the ceiling. The bigger, the better really.
Drinks Trolley
So this is one thing that – fingers crossed – we’ll be getting for Christmas. Me and Sam are going to treat each other to a gorgeous gold painted drinks trolley that I’ve been eyeing up for months now. It’s something that will sit perfectly in our kitchen and dining area and will lovingly display all of our alcohol and glassware. That will then hopefully free up some space in the kitchen cupboards for more of the essentials.
A Side Cabinet For The Living Space
We love our sofa and it was definitely one of the best investments in our home. Abakus Direct has a new range called Chicago and has state-of-the-art waterproof fabric on their sofas to protect the sofas and to extend their life. It’s something that would definitely come in handy for family households and clumsy adults like myself. What’s currently missing in our living space is a side cabinet. We need something that’s going to sit opposite our kitchen area so we have more space to store kitchen essentials and other things that currently have no place to live.
Floating Shelves
I really want to get a few floating shelves to put up around the space. I definitely think it’s lacking a few shelves, particularly so that I can put up more photo frames of family and friends. There are plenty that are available online and so I’m going to have a little look to see how many I’ll need.
Blinds
And lastly, we need to get the blinds sorted in our apartment. We currently have the one set in our bedroom but we need to get around to doing the ones in our living room and in the spare room. I did have a potential collaboration for the spare room but I’m fearful that the quality doesn’t suit what I’m after. I’m going to see what happens with the Black Friday sale and any Christmas deals or New Year offers that come through on Blinds2Go.
